How to Make Rose Water with Glycerin

Ingredients:

¼ c dried rose petals (or ½- ¾ c fresh chemical-free petals)

Saucepan with lid

1 ½ c water

1 oz vegetable glycerin

Fine strainer:

  • Nut milk bag
  • several thicknesses of cheese cloth
  • new/clean pantyhose

Dark bottle for storage (spray nozzle optional)

Directions:

  1. Measure ¼ c dried rose petals into saucepan. Use ½ to ¾ c if you are using fresh petals
  2. Pour 1 ½ c water into saucepan.
  3. Cover and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce temperature to the lowest setting that still allow the water to simmer.
  5. Simmer until the color the rose petals has faded to nearly colorless. 5-10 minutes roughly.
  6. Remove from heat.
  7. Leave the lid on the saucepan and cool completely.
  8. Pour water and petals through the fine filter into a measuring bowl (with pour spout for easy transfer).
  9. Pour vegetable glycerin into the dark bottle.
  10. Fill the bottle with the rose water.
  11. Store filtered rose water in sealed bottle: 1 week at room temperature or up to 4-6 weeks in the refrigerator.

Use:
